MedRC Foundation Course

The MedRC Foundation Course is a practical, structured introduction to the essential skills needed to understand, conduct, and communicate medical and clinical research. The course begins on August 29, 2026, and includes 26 lessons, with each session lasting approximately 1.5 hours, on Saturdays and Sundays. The course combines interactive lectures, practical exercises, homework assignments, and applied research activities. All lectures will be recorded. Students will complete short assignments throughout the course to reinforce concepts and apply the skills learned in class. They will also participate in a mock peer-review exercise, working with a sample scientific manuscript to evaluate its methodology, statistical analysis, results, and conclusions and practice writing structured reviewer feedback. The course will introduce large language models (LLMs) as interactive tools for learning and performing statistical analysis, including understanding statistical concepts, selecting appropriate tests and models, assisting with statistical code, interpreting outputs, and identifying potential errors or inappropriate analyses. Sessions will use examples from medical research to connect theoretical concepts with how studies are designed, analyzed, written, reviewed, and published. The course is designed for medical students, physicians, healthcare professionals, and early-career researchers seeking a strong and practical foundation in medical research.

How it works

From enrolment to your first publication

A single, mentored path — the same three steps every student follows at MedRC.

01

Enroll and get your access

Buy the course, our team confirms your enrollment, and your lessons unlock in your dashboard — recorded content ready whenever you are.

02

Learn live with mentors who publish

Attend live sessions and workshops with mentors from Harvard, Mayo Clinic, Seoul National and more — questions answered in real time, not months later on a forum.

03

Finish with real research work

Every module ends in an applied deliverable — a research question, an analysis, a manuscript draft — so you leave with a portfolio, not just a certificate.

What our instructors say about the course

Reviews of the material from the researchers who built and vetted it — not student testimonials.

The curriculum was built the way I wish research had been taught to me — the fundamentals come first, and every module ends in something a student actually has to produce.

Curriculum design
The statistics track is unusually honest about what clinicians need to understand before they run a model — it stays close to how journals actually evaluate a paper.

The mentors reviewing student work publish for a living. Access to that kind of feedback at this stage of training is rare, and it is the single thing that most changes outcomes.
