You saw a patient who taught you something. This free course shows you how to share it well: first as a poster at a congress, then as a case report in a journal. In four live classes, you learn when a case is worth writing up, how to write to a congress’s own rules, how to make a poster people can read, how to follow the CARE checklist in English and Turkish, how to prepare figures that protect your patient, and how to choose a congress and a journal in Türkiye or abroad. You practice each step in Case Report Studio, MedRC’s simulation lab, with synthetic patients. Offered with the Syrian Doctors Association in Türkiye.

Who it is for: Medical students, interns and residents in Türkiye who want to present a first case at a congress or publish it in a journal. No research experience needed.
Teaching format: Four live online classes of 90 minutes: about 60 minutes of teaching, then questions and live practice in the simulation lab, with a short practice task between classes.
Languages: Taught in Arabic, with the English and Turkish terms journals and congresses use. The lab is available in English, Arabic and Turkish.

Prerequisites

None. A laptop or tablet helps for the lab.

Schedule

Saturday 14, Sunday 15, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2026, 8:00 to 9:30 PM Istanbul time (12:00 to 1:30 PM ET; 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM CT). Class 1 on 14 Nov, class 2 on 15 Nov, class 3 on 21 Nov, class 4 on 22 Nov.

What you study and produce

Research design and integrity
Research questions, study designs, epidemiology, bias and confounding, ethics and study planning.
You produce: A research planning worksheet: population, exposure, outcome, chosen design and likely sources of bias.

Data preparation and analysis
Data dictionaries, cleaning logs, missing values, descriptive statistics, linear and logistic regression.
You produce: A cleaning log and result note: a model fitted in Jamovi on synthetic data, interpreted with its limitations.

Evidence synthesis
Literature searching, systematic-review planning, screening, extraction, forest plots and heterogeneity.
You produce: A review decision record: eligibility criteria, a screening decision and a value traced to its source.

Writing and communicating research
Critical appraisal, manuscript structure, tables and figures, reporting checklists, responding to reviewers.
You produce: An appraisal or manuscript outline: question, methods, main result and limitations in a clear structure.

LLM-supported learning

You learn to use large language models the way researchers should: ask a question, inspect the answer, then verify the reasoning or calculation against the course material. AI is a learning aid, never a substitute for checking your work.
