The MedRC 14-Day Research Starter is a planned, guided introduction for medical students and healthcare professionals who want to turn an initial idea into a clear question and a small, carefully documented learning portfolio. Short practice tasks and two group checkpoints connect research concepts to decisions you make yourself.
YOUR LEARNING PATH
Days 1–3: Define one research question, its population and outcome, and a realistic scope.
Days 4–7: Document a focused search, verify 5–10 sources, and record their main findings and limitations.
Days 8–11: Build a small evidence table and complete a reproducible practice analysis or structured critical appraisal.
Days 12–14: Explain your choices in three minutes, respond to feedback, and agree on a suitable next step.
WHAT YOU WILL PRODUCE
A one-page question and scope statement.
A dated search log and evidence table, clearly labeled as a training exercise.
One practice analysis or structured appraisal with traceable sources and limitations.
A three-minute explanation of your work.
A reviewed progress portfolio and a next-step recommendation.
PLAN YOUR TIME
Allow approximately 6–8 hours across 14 days, including 20–30-minute tasks on most days and two group checkpoints. This is a pilot workload estimate. The proposed pilot has up to six learners, with defined weekly feedback.
A CLEAR NEXT STEP
The Starter has value on its own. A later Project Clinic requires a separate skills and project-fit review; progression is optional and is not automatic. Equivalent skills can be demonstrated without a mandatory Foundation Course purchase.
Practice uses synthetic data or authorized published sources. A small training search is not a completed systematic review. Journal publication, acceptance, indexing, authorship, and professional accreditation are not promised.
